10-10-24 THOUGHTS
The words today are corrective. Our reading is corrective. I love us all so dearly! I’ve been in the Church for many years. Have I had one year’s experience 70 times or 70 years of growing experience? Do I wait for someone to bring me my food, or am I renewed in the spirit of my mind each day by God through His Word? Am I MATURE? Have my “senses been trained to discern good and evil by practice?” Are we making the Church work to please God, or are we showing up once more for feeding time? Convenience attendance has become the norm. The words “DULL OF HEARING” below are powerful. We must note that it is something “they became”! Again, God’s word is often corrective. The first three chapters of the Revelation letter seek to correct seven congregations in Asia. If we see ourselves as “milk folks”, let’s make some changes. Let all of us encourage each other toward eternity with God!
Heb 4:8-14 Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered. 9 And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation, 10 being designated by God as a high priest according to the order of Melchizedek. 11 Concerning him we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. 12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food. 13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant. 14 But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.
My Prayer:
Lord, forgive our complacency. Awaken us and energize our souls for heaven. Help us to love our way into Your presence, O God. May we love our way into the lives of men and women who pass us by. May we engage our world and not pass it by. Teach us to love our neighbors as ourselves. Help us to live for Christ, the source of our eternal salvation. Teach us to love you with our all. May we joyfully pursue You as our God. In the name of our Savior, Amen.
